THE TEAM:
The 9 strong Category Supply Chain Team manages around 58 live innovation projects and 1000 SKU’s, delivering new products and innovations to European markets in support of an ambitious growth agenda.
The projects range from country specific/targeted activities with short, focused timescales to product revolutions requiring longer supply chain implementation to bring step-change innovation to the marketplace.
THE ROLE:
This is a supply chain role with the purpose of managing Innovation/change projects across Europe from concept to delivery. Focusing on their highly successful brands, the Category Planner will take responsibility for “on time in full” delivery of a range of market leading innovations. The role reports into the Innovation Manager and will have line management responsibility for a Planning assistant.
Responsible for managing delivery of supply chain capabilities for key brand innovation projects as determined by the latest category strategy. By attending/leading project meetings the Category Planner drives project implementation via liaison with cross functional teams including marketing, local country planning, material supply management, R & D and manufacturing sites.
The Category Planner will manage the project plan from kick-off through to implementation, scoping the project, defining activities and timings required to enable production. This will include ensuring that the Supply Chain has the necessary capacities and capabilities to produce the innovations. He/she will control the timings and ensure that the new products are delivered “on time in full” to the markets.
Working in cross functional teams led by marketing, with representatives from technical functions as required, the category planner performs a key role by holding team members accountable for the delivery of their activities and ensuring the project remains “on track” and is delivered to agreed timings.
Managing a range of projects simultaneously the role requires an ability to prioritise multiple activities flexibly, whilst maintaining customer and value focus.
KEY INTERFACES INCLUDE:
Marketing, R&D, Material supply management, Manufacturing sites, EU country planning and logistics and Global Supply Chain
EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate is likely to have existing experience in Supply chain/Logistics.
Project Management skills are key to this role, therefore this will be an advantage.
An aptitude for using systems e.g. ESAP, APO Microsoft Project & Excel is also important as the individual will be responsible for creating masterdata associated with new products.
